When you hear the words ‘social media’, you would be forgiven for automatically thinking of the big two: Facebook and Twitter.

However, there are dozens of highly popular social networks about, with more being launched every day.

Some fail to gain popularity; others attract MILLIONS of people.

This week, Vine celebrated its first birthday with over 40 millions users, including Barak Obama. So what exactly is Vine?

Vine is a video sharing app in which users can post looping videos of up to six seconds. Users share their vines with their followers, just like on other networks like Twitter or Instagram. The beauty of the loops is that funny vines tend to become funnier the second or third, or even the thirteenth time round.
